Can anyone give me info on college grants in Oklahoma

Can anyone give me info on college grants in Oklahoma?
I'm a 38 yr old single disabled native american mother of 3 considering going to college for a bachelors. I am just curious as to an average amount of grants one can obtain and if it would be enough for me to pay all college expenses and have some left over to help run the household while I'm going to school. Has anyone in a similar situation had any experience with applying for grants lately?

You usually don't apply for grants, just fill out the FAFSA, that determines your eligibility. Grants are awarded based on your income. You may have to get scholarships and/or take out loans.

If you have not done so already, you need to fill out a fafsa application now at http://fafsa.ed.gov This is the beginning process for all state and federal grants and the deadline for the Oklahoma Tuition Aid Grant (OTAG) is either passed or will pass shortly. If you qualify for the OTAG grant, that if you qualify for, a 1,000 you don't have to pay back. The max Pell grant one can receive is 5,350 a year if you attend full time. Grants do not have to be paid back. You can also opt to take out student loans as well. Since you are independent, you can borrow up to 7,500 a year in federal Stafford loans as well.. maybe a bit more if you already have college credit. I would also contact the tribe on your CDIB card and ask about college grants and scholarships for members. Since you are disabled, you need to contact your local Vocational Rehabilitation office. They sometimes will also help folks pay for their schooling. It's a bit of paperwork, but well worth the time. Remember, you CAN get finding from many many sources. So if you want to spend a bit of time doing paperwork and making phone calls, you can apply for scholarships (through your school and your tribe and any local organizations you know that give out scholarships), state and federal grants, student loans, vocational rehab assistance, and any other sources you can think of. You are lucky, you have MANY MANY options. Good luck. If you give me more specific details (tribe, school, location) I might be able to help more!
