I have tests and, of course, class during the week I was summoned. I can't afford to miss class really, much less a test. Has anyone been called recently in OK county who was a student and gotten out of it?

jury duty is part of being a american citizen.

The initial summons is for a jury pool, from which future juries are called. You will have a hard time getting out of that one, but may be able to avoid particular juries .

You can get out of serving on a jury, but not getting out of jury duty. You can also postpone it to a time that's better for you. If you go to jury duty, and get inside a courtroom, just tell the judge that you can't serve on a jury because of your studies. You'll most likely be asked about your schedule and why you can't serve, so be prepared to explain in detail WHY you can't miss class. And, most likely, you'll be dismissed and be exempt for a year, but it's up to the judge.
